John Cowell, M.D., FRCPC is a Senior Strategist with Corpus Sanchez International, working with CSI as a specialty advisor on key projects in the areas of strategy development, clinical and system quality and operations improvement.In addition, Dr. Cowell is currently the CEO of the Health Quality Council of Alberta.Dr. Cowell brings more than 30 years of experience as a President and CEO, senior executive, manager, strategist, consultant and health care professional.He is a strategist and consultant in health care quality and safety, workers' compensation, workplace disability management, health evaluation and occupational health and safety, and environmental health. He is a former Vice President of Health Safety and Environment for the Nova Corporation and former President and CEO of the Workers' Compensation Board of Alberta.In the latter role, John led a financial turnaround of the organization, ensuring its ongoing viability by reducing costs and increasing benefits to clients.
Tex Kissoon, M.D., FRCPC is a Senior Physician Advisor with Corpus Sanchez and is also currently the Senior Medical Director of Acute and Critical Care at BC Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kissoon is fellowship trained in critical care and emergency medicine. He is a world-renowned leader in his respective fields and is exceptionally well positioned to assist clients in identifying strategies to engage the physicians and surgeons. An accomplished teacher, researcher, author and presenter, Dr. Kissoon advises hospitals, universities and physicians around the world on a variety of topics, including trauma care and system management, leadership, emergency care, critical care, general disease management, medical ethics and resource utilization/rationalization. Dr. Kissoon is involved in a number of international associations and scholarly societies including: American Academy of Pediatrics, American Association for Respiratory Care, American College of Physician Executives, American Federation for Clinical Research, American Thoracic Society, Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians, Canadian Critical Care Society, Canadian Pediatric Society, Canadian Society for Clinical Investigation (CSCI-SCRC), Indian Critical Care Society, Ontario Medical Association, Philippines Critical Care Society, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, Society for Critical Care Medicine, Trauma Association of Canada and the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Society (WFPICCS), where he serves as the Vice President of Journal and Business Affairs.
Charlene Harris is an Associate Consultant with Corpus-Sanchez International and is also the Director of the Regional Laboratory Outreach services for Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Georgia, a 330-bed referral healthcare center, physician services, HMO and urgent care center serving northeast Georgia. Prior to joining Athens Regional, Charlene was a consultant with the Hay Group where she provided leadership and direct management of on-site projects dealing with healthcare service reengineering and role design. She also served as project manager for work transformation to include patient focused care and change management. She is certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and is a Diplomate with the American College of Healthcare Executives. She holds membership in the Clinical Laboratory Management Association, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Medical Group Management Association, and the American Management Association. Charlene holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology and Master’s Degrees in Health Administration and Health Research.
Mavis Hurley Mavis recently retried from her post as Deputy Minister for the Premier’s Health Quality Council (PHQC) in New Brunswick, joining Corpus Sanchez as our Regional Director for Atlantic Canada. As Regional Director, Mavis will lead our assignments in Atlantic Canada and will also serve national clients with policy development and health system planning initiatives. In her previous role, she oversaw the development of a reformed health system for New Brunswick. The Health Renewal Agenda is dramatically reshaping the delivery of health services in the province. Prior to undertaking her current role with the PHQC, Mavis was the Deputy Minister for the Health Services Review Committee that studied the system and tabled the recommendations which are now being planned for implementation by the PHQC. Prior to this, she has held deputy minister positions since 1983.
David James is a Senior Associate Consultant with CSI, working with clients in the areas of governance, strategy alignment, operational improvement and revenue generation.David is a results oriented adaptable executive with extensive knowledge in a broad and diverse spectrum of management in both the private and not-for-profit sectors.He has recently worked for a number of not-for-profit organizations under a series of short-term contracts.Prior to this, he was an executive with both CIBC and TD Canada Trust.
Pat Stoddart is currently the Senior Director, Performance & Contracts at the Central West Local Health Integration Network in Ontario and she periodically works with CSI as a Senior Associate on projects. Her work with CSI focuses on Long Term Care, system planning and integration and community based service delivery. Prior to taking on her current senior leadership role at the Central West LHIN, Pat was CEO of Villa Colombo, Home for the Aged, a 400-bed nursing home in Toronto serving the Italian-Canadian community. Prior to joining the Villa, Pat worked as a Senior Consultant with the Hay Health Care Consulting Group, where she consulted in the areas of strategic planning, operations improvement, academic program development and organizational integration. Before that, Pat held senior executive positions at both the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto and Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton. In both of these organizations Pat was a Vice President, Patient Programs and was integrally involved in the development of the program management structure of the two hospitals. Pat’s nursing background is in critical care. Danny Tulip, FCA is CFO for Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC and is available as a specialty advisor to Corpus Sanchez clients.Prior to joining Royal Roads, Danny was Chief Financial Officer for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (formerly the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board) in British Columbia.The region had annual expenditures in excess of $2 billion and included a number of acute care hospitals, community agencies and long-term care providers.Prior to taking on the regional CFO role, Danny was Vice President, Finance at Vancouver Hospital & Health Sciences Centre, an organization with annual expenditures of more than $500 million.In this role, Danny led the implementation of a new clinical information system and spearheaded the hospital’s partnership with Telus which provided the upfront capital to pay for the system.Prior to entering health care, Danny held a number of positions in the private sector including CFO for the Domtar Chemicals Group, part of Domtar Canada, and CFO for Voyageur Bus Lines.Danny earned his Chartered Accountant designation in London, England and is a Fellow in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in the U.K.
